Music is one of the most popular co-curricular activity subscribed by the students at St. Xavier’s High School. A very equipped Music department offers a wide variety of music study instructions in both Western and Indian categories. The learning of vocal technique or an instrument teaches a child – the self-discipline that paves the way for excellence. The thought and reflection required in music making and the curiosity further makes way for creativity. Students are trained in a wide variety of western musical instruments such as the Keyboard, Recorder, Flute, Saxophone, Violin, Guitars, percussion instruments, besides variety of Indian musical instruments like Mridangam, Sitar, Tabla, Dholak, Flute, etc.
Students are trained in the diverse range of Indian classical and folk-dance forms that flourish in different components of India with distinct cultural and aesthetic appeals. Students can also avail training in western and contemporary dance forms the team of expert dance teachers. The school aims to promote trained dancers in classical and western styles and at the same time enhearten the rich folk culture of our country. The students are exposed to several dance forms in the dance competitions conducted at in house and other competitive levels.
